What Can a Sky Diving Simulator Teach You?
![]() |
Have you always dreamed of going skydiving but haven't worked up the nerve? If so, you should consider using a sky diving simulator. This will give you the experience of sky diving without you actually having to jump from a plane. Simulators are great for students preparing for their first jump as well as people who want the experience without having to go up in a plane. Most simulators are called wind tunnels. These tunnels are filled with high powered wind to keep the person inside aloft and give them the sensation of sky diving.
You might hear a simulator referred to as indoor sky diving, and that's exactly what it is. Wind speeds can reach as high as 170 MPH which is why these simulators are used by sky diving teams and instructors for training purposes. You actually feel the free fall as you would if you had jumped from a plane. Also like real sky diving, you will need to observe safety rules and wear the proper equipment. The operators of the simulator will instruct you regarding all rules and regulations and make sure you have a safe and fun experience.
One of the most important pieces of protective gear is the helmet. Your helmet should not only protect your entire head, but your eyes as well. There are helmets especially made for sky diving. You will also need a jump suit. Jump suits are exactly what actual jumpers wear to protect their skin. These suits are made from an aerodynamic material and are similar to what windbreaker jackets are made from. As far as shoes are concerned, you can buy shoes especially for sky diving or you can wear a good pair of athletic shoes.
The cost for using a sky diving simulator will vary according to where you are. Different indoor sky diving centers have different prices for simulator sessions. The good news is that using one of these tunnels or simulators is going to cost substantially less than if you were actually going sky diving. Often these centers have jumpsuits and helmets that you can rent. Sometimes these rentals are included in the price. You may be wondering if you'll like this kind of activity. If you love excitement and the rush of adrenaline you get from extreme sports, you will love indoor sky diving!
