What Kind of Sky Diving Gear Do You Need?

If you are new to the world of sky diving, you will need some equipment. Sky diving gear is important for your safety. There are several key items that you will need before you ever consider this activity. Most people going out for the first time take a sky diving class. You can rent your equipment or you can buy. If you choose to buy, be prepared to shell out thousands of dollars. Because of the expense, many jumpers who don't sky dive very often rent their equipment rather than buying it.

One very important piece of equipment that you'll need is the parachute. Most skydivers are going to go for a square parachute. In addition to the main chute, you're also going to need a reserve chute. Your sky diving chutes are tailored to your body size. Another thing that may vary when it comes to chutes is the material. There are various types of material that is used to make parachute canopies as well as parachute lines. For example, Dacron and Spectra are two examples of textiles used to make chute lines.

You will need a harness container system that is appropriate for your body size. The chutes should fit nicely into the container without it being too tight or too loose. You want to make sure your harness is comfortable. Another crucial piece of gear is the AAD or automatic activation device. This device will activate your chute at the right time if you are unable to do so. It is another safety precaution that is important to have. And of course, you'll need the proper clothing before taking your jump.

Protective headgear is a must, because landings don't always go as planned. This means a sturdy helmet with eye protection. In addition, a good jumpsuit is important. The jumpsuit is a full body zip up suit that helps you be more aerodynamic. Under your jumpsuit you will want to wear comfortable clothing that is not too tight or loose. Shoes can be your basic athletic shoes, although you can find footwear designed especially for sky diving. If you are taking a sky diving class your instructor will tell you all the sky diving gear you will need.
