Is Simulated Sky Diving as Good as the Real Thing?

Many people looking for an adventure consider sky diving. There's just something thrilling about jumping out of an airplane yet landing safely on the ground. However, there may be reasons why you cannot go sky diving or choose not to. Instead, you may want to try simulated sky diving. There are many people for which this activity is preferable. Even young children can enjoy a sky diving simulator. But is it as good as the real thing? That depends on what kind of experience you want to have.

If you are just looking for something fun to do, simulated or indoor sky diving is a great activity to try. It is more affordable and less frightening than real skydiving. As mentioned previously, even children can enjoy indoor sky diving. There are quite a few indoor centers located around the country, including those in large tourist cities like Orlando, Los Angeles, Pigeon Forge and Las Vegas. Your average experience is going to last anywhere between thirty minutes and an hour. The simulation is done with the help of a powerful wind tunnel.

The first thing you will do when you use a simulator is be trained by an instructor and given all your flight gear including your suit, ear protection and eye protection. The actual flight experience happens when you are picked up off the ground by the wind and lifted into the air. Once you are in the air, you will feel like you are actually sky diving. As you can imagine, being lifted off the ground is less scary for many people than jumping out of a plane. It's also a lot cheaper and a great family activity.

Simulated sky diving is also a great way to practice for real sky diving. Competitive sky divers use wind tunnels for training purposes. If you are preparing for your first real sky dive, using a simulator first can help you work on your body positions and give you the sensation of free falling beforehand so you will know what to expect. Believe it or not, sky diving takes more than the ability to fall from the sky. Whether you visit a wind tunnel for practice purposes or just want to have a good time, you're sure to enjoy this fun and exciting experience.
